This is only a guideline. Energy level, breed, and size all need to be considered.
Example:
100lb adult dog, low energy
100 x 2%= 2lbs per day
spread over two feedings.
*Keep a close eye on your dogs weight and adjust accordingly.
Meat and bone with fruit & veggies (BARF)
or without fruits & veggies(PMR)?
Whole prey or ground?
80/10/10 - meat/bone/organs
60/10/30 - meat with bone/organs/F&V
70/30 - meat with bone/ F&V
Organs are an important part of raw feeding because they contain a variety of nutrients that help balance a raw diet. No more than 10% of the diet should consist of organs (5% Liver, and 5% other secreting organs). It is not recommended to feed more than 5% liver.
Feeding chicken alone is not a balanced diet. It is recommended to feed 3-4 different proteins over a 1 month period, this applies to adult dogs only. Puppies need to have their meals balanced on a daily basis.
This is just an example of some of the supplements that can be used. What you use depends entirely on the individual needs of the dog. A raw egg a few times a weeks is also a great addition to a raw diet.
Poop is a good way to see how the diet is working for your dog. If the poop is too white, you're feeding too much bone. If it's black or runny it could be too much organ meat. While you're learning, check poop regularly.
